Our last two eggs hatched yesterday.  I was watching our last nest and after a while, I felt that the adult was sitting differently on the nest and I decided to go out to check it.  I was delighted to see that the two eggs had hatched, but only just.  The second egg was only finishing hatching so I took a couple of hurried photos and left them alone.  As you can see from the photo below, the youngest chick is still wet and part of the shell is still in the nest.

We have five young chicks, the rest of our birds are fledged but we hope to continue day time wardening for another week or more to give these birds a real chance of fledging.  Unfortunately our wardening money has run out, so we will not have night time wardening.  This leaves us with a total of 96 chicks which is just two more than last year.
