We would like to extend our thanks to Councillor Kenneth Flood for his kind donation to the Louth Nature Trust and on-going support.
Kenneth has lso expressed some concern about the plight of mute swans flying up and down the Boyne river, typically moving from roosting (water) to feeding (grassland) areas. The problem is that they sometimes collide with electrical wires crossing the Boyne – typically they fly upwards to avoid the main cables only to hit the much smaller “neutral” cable on top, and injure wings. In other similar locations the use of reflectors on the cables, particularly the neutral one, may considerably reduce this problem. We hope ot pursue this problem further with the Council and ESB over coming months.
