Kevin and Shane will be our little tern wardens this year.
Shane Somers graduated from TCD in 2015 with a 2.1 in zoology. He has travelled to Madagascar for 6 weeks to carry out fieldwork for his dissertation in the summer of 2014, where he studied leaf-tailed geckos in the dry forest. He has recently returned from South Africa where he has been living and working as a research assistant as part of the Sparrow Weaver Project based in the Kalahari, (www.animalsocieties.org). Shane enjoys getting outside for wildlife spotting and photography. He is passionate about research and conservation.
Kevin Delahunty studied Zoology at UCD, graduating in 2009 with a 2.1 and going on to complete a Master of Science in Biodiversity and Conservation at Trinity College in 2011. He is extremely passionate about the conservation of Ireland’s biodiversity and has been involved in numerous different projects including the fawn tagging of the fallow deer in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. He strives to pass on his own knowledge to the public and has set up multiple events based around getting the public back outdoors and interested in Irish wildlife, such as nature walks and wildlife workshops.
